The Next Chapter for a Gold Coast Icon

The Australian German Club, a cherished cornerstone of the Gold Coast community for nearly fifty years, is proudly embarking on an exciting new chapter, signaling a renewed focus on growth, community, and the celebration of authentic German culture. A vital part of this journey is the opening of its new restaurant, Zum Schilling, which will serve as a crucial connection point for members while the club prepares for its next major milestone. It is important to understand the distinction between this new restaurant and the club’s long-term vision.

The restaurant, named Zum Schilling to honour the profound legacy of beloved life member Mr. Arno Schilling, is now open at Unit 28, 137 Scottsdale Drive, Robina, within the complex known as “Sidewalk on Scottsdale.” This establishment is dedicated to offering an authentic German dining experience with high-quality food and exceptional service. However, it is a temporary solution—a lifeline designed to keep members and friends connected until the permanent clubrooms are ready.

The true new venture for the Australian German Club is the future construction of its permanent home in Mudgeeraba, at the site of the old Woodchoppers. This future venue will be a comprehensive community hub designed to host the full range of club activities, including large functions, cultural celebrations, and live entertainment. Development is scheduled to begin by March of next year, with an estimated construction timeline of 12 to 24 months. Once completed, the Zum Schilling restaurant will relocate to this permanent home, uniting the club’s dining and community functions under one roof.

While the restaurant will not be staging major events, the club is already planning for the future. We are thrilled to announce that the Mudgeeraba Showgrounds have been secured for next year’s Oktoberfest, ensuring our most cherished traditions continue without interruption. As the club navigates this transitional period, the community’s support is more vital than ever. We invite everyone to visit Zum Schilling in Robina to enjoy a memorable taste of Germany and to remain part of our journey. Your patronage helps build the foundation for the next chapter in the history of this Gold Coast icon.
